That is what makes it different from the comment box in a live stream. In a room you are one of many viewers. In a 1v1 call you are the whole audience, and so is the other person. Conversations get real faster, because there is nobody to perform for.

Your first call, step by step
First random call ever? Here is everything involved:

Allow camera and microphone. Face a window or a lamp so your face is lit from the front.

The matcher pairs you with someone waiting at the same moment. Video opens on both sides.

Say something specific
Ask about the view behind them or what time it is where they are. It beats a plain "hi".

Stay or move on
Keep talking while it is fun. When it fades, tap next, no hard feelings.
Typing to someone who writes in another language? Text messages in a call have a translate button, so the chat side of a video call still works.

Calling a host you met in a live room
Random matching is one way in; the other is through Tango Live. Every live room has a Start Video Chat button that opens a private video call with that host. It is a good fit when you already enjoy someone's stream and want a real conversation without the whole room watching. Host calls cost coins, and you see the amount before connecting.

Some people search for tango videos or tango live videos hoping for a library of clips. Tango does not host recorded videos. Everything here is live: either a stream happening right now, or a call you are part of. If you want to see faces before you talk, the live rooms are the closest thing, and they are free to watch.
The same goes for tango cam searches. The camera here is for live, two-way video, not for browsing recordings. Your camera only switches on when you choose video mode.

Small things that make a video call better
A clear face makes people stay. Prop your phone up so the camera is at eye level, keep the light in front of you, and use earphones if the room echoes. Keep your first questions light and specific, and let the other person talk. If someone is rude, end the call; the report and block buttons sit right next to the next button.
